The Fire Station's Artist in Residence program recently unveiled two new exhibitions, "Neighbours of the Sea" and "Etheralscape." These exhibitions, running until August 17th, showcase the artistic talents fostered by the program's support for local artists. "Neighbours of the Sea" features a collaborative collection by renowned Qatari artists Wafika Sultan al-Issa and Hassan al-Mulla. Through over 30 mixed-media paintings, they explore the connection between their inner worlds and their shared Qatari heritage. The desert and sea serve as inspiration, reflecting on traditions, urbanism, and the influence of the environment on life in Qatar. Both al-Issa, a pioneer in Qatari art, and al-Mulla, a widely recognized artist, participated in the Fire Station's Ruwad in Residence program, which supports established artists. The second exhibition, "Etheralscape," is an immersive experience by former Fire Station artists Dr. AlKhuzama AlHarami and Guillaume Rousere. This installation merges visuals and sound, exploring the interplay between nature and modern life. Visitors encounter captivating video projections of deserts and calligraphy alongside evocative soundscapes. Designed for contemplation and relaxation, the exhibition offers a sensory escape from daily stresses. Dr. AlHarami, an AI artist, seeks to bridge the gap between artificial intelligence and artistic expression. Rousere, a French sound artist, utilizes sound to explore the connections between nature, culture, and history.
