Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has launched the third cultural season of its “Knowledge Integration” seminar series with a discussion on the role of interdisciplinary knowledge in strengthening civilisational awareness and understanding history and contemporary realities. Organised by the Ministry’s Department of Islamic Research and Studies in cooperation with Qatar University’s Ibn Khaldon Center for Social and Humanities Sciences, the seminar was held under the theme “Towards Civilisational Awareness: Knowledge Integration as the Foundation of Islamic Renaissance.” The event brought together academics and researchers in Islamic studies, history and civilisational thought and was attended by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H.E. Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim.

The seminar, titled “Civilisational Awareness in Light of Knowledge Integration: Towards a New Reading of History and Reality,” explored how combining Islamic, humanities and social sciences can provide new approaches to understanding Islamic heritage and contemporary challenges. Discussions included the theme “Civilisational Awareness between Authenticity and Modernity”, focusing on balancing foundational principles with engagement with modern developments. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, Director of the Department of Islamic Research and Studies, highlighted the importance of scholarly dialogue across disciplines, while Dr. Badrane Benlahcene of Qatar University’s Ibn Khaldon Center emphasised knowledge integration as a key area of the centre’s academic work. Professor Ibrahim Mohamed Zain also examined civilisational awareness through the intellectual contributions of Al-Amiri, Ibn Khaldun and Ismail Al-Faruqi.
